#DCTwirlies 3 - Julie & Julia Movie Night

The #DCTwirlies met at Vapiano's in DC on August 11, 2009 for happy hour enjoying great drink specials and pizza, pasta or salad and each other's company. We headed over to the Chinatown movie theater and took in a wonderfully written Julie & Julia while getting hungry despite our full bellies. The laughter, the excitement and the wonderment of Julia Childs made it an incredible evening for all.

#DCTwirlies 4 - Nando's Sangria Happy Hour

Nando's Peri Peri was having a $5 sangria pitcher that the #DCTwirlies felt they should take advantage of. On Sept 1, 2009, we booked Nando's private back room at their Dupont Circle location and enjoyed appetizers and sangria along with great get-to-know-you conversation. Business networking was had but friendships began and are continuing from that evening.

#DCTwirlies 5 - 'Dirty Dancing' Movie Night

Cynthia Karnik, CEO of @govpartners, invited us to her home in Leesburg, VA for a night of Patrick Swayze, mojitos and lasagna. She made sure it was a night to remember. We arrived and found ourselves at the bar in her basement enjoying spinach dip and mojitos along with girl talk about everything on the planet. Once everyone arrived, we headed upstairs for lasagna, salad and garlic bread and enjoyed each other's company. Once we were stuffed, we headed for the 113" screen in the home theater with giant comfy recliners and started watching Dirty Dancing. It was like watching it on the big screen at the movies. Singing, giggling, conversations and lots of dialogue repeating was had throughout the movie along with swooning for the late Patrick Swayze and comments about Jennifer Gray's nose. The evening was a HUGE success. Thanks to Cynthia and her incredible hostessing.

Sisarina is going from meet up to mixer.

On Monday, November 16, Sisarina, Ted Gibson Salon & Hela Spa invite you to put your feet up, enjoy some bubbly and get in touch with your epicurean self at our DCTwixer. Stop by after work for a happy hour to learn more about the many ways Hela Spa can help you relax, enjoy tasty treats (courtesy of Adrianna Catering), and mix with exciting DC locals.

Sisarina is also partnering with Socialize Better, a DC nonprofit working with the local social young adults to raise money for charities. Their November 21st event will be supporting Just the Roof,  a project facilitating the safe education of young women in a small African village through the construction of a girls' dormitory. Visions Restaurant and @cheftony put their 3rd of our 6 #DCTweetup's on the map. The ambiance was relaxing and comfortable as people started streaming in. A lot of return attendees along with many new faces made for a fun evening of networking and reconnecting.

Halfway through the evening, Tony gave away $10, $25 and $50 gift certificates to his restaurant. Those who won were incredibly happy to receive these and try out other new items on his menu. As always, we are happy to give away coupons, gift certificates and other fun merchandise for business owners attending or hosting the Tweetups.

Although we always have a great time at Visions, Tony pulled out all the stops this time with his now-famous mojitos and giving us a sampling of his new menu.The Maryland Crab Mac&Cheese along with the spicy ribs were achingly delicious and THEN he brought out the catfish. We were all stuffed and happy by the time the evening was over. We all highly recommend Visions Restaurant if you are looking for lunch or dinner plans in Bethesda.

What is #DCTweetup?
#DCTweetup is a ‘non’-networking event for locals to put a face to a Twitter handle. It’s a relaxing evening of networking with your neighbors, local business owners and meeting new friends. This is not your typical ’state what you do & hand over your business card’ event. #DCTweetup is for the introverted & extroverted alike to share in great conversation, relationship-building and fun.

The first morning  #BagelTweetup at Georgetown Bagelry was an early morning, refreshing mixer of incredible locals .  Mary Beall Adler, once again, set the bar high for Tweetup hosts with free breakfast for all attendees.  Good coffee, amazing bagels/bagel sandwiches and fantastic Tweeters made a great day's start for all who attended.

The #BagelTweetup was so much fun that we're making it a regular event!  The last Wednesday morning of every month now holds the promise of free breakfast and great conversation.  Join us for the next one on October 28.
