Wear Your Awesome

It’s time. I know you’ve been fighting it. I know you believe that if you work hard and stay focused, you’ll get that high-level promotion, that incredible client, that perfect employee, or that kickass partner. I know this because one of my mantras is: 5% inspiration, 95% hard work. But I’ve watched people struggle and get frustrated when what they focus on doesn’t materialize. And it’s typically because they didn’t get out there and tell everyone about what they're doing. I have decided that it’s your time to dance that Awesome of yours all over the place.
Wear your Awesome and shake it in their face.

When Jenn uttered this phrase at Sisarina HQ one day, I immediately lit up. I had been teaching entrepreneurs how to talk about themselves I was pushing them to get out in the big world of business and share what made them stand apart and THIS summed it all up. I loved it so much we made Wear Your Awesome stickers. (aren't they pretty?)
Too many people end up in the mindset that if they talk too much about themselves and share their accomplishments, others will see that as prideful - that it’s not nice to others to show off. "It’s not how I run my life or my business." But that’s also why those same people end up not being as successful and end up treading water and drowning instead of finding the shore. You already have an Awesome - you just have to find it and shake it.
CAVEAT: You also know the people on the other end of the spectrum. Those who hijack your Facebook posts in order to get attention, refer you to people expecting something in return, or are just generally annoying braggards when they really have nothing to brag about. Don't be that guy. Nobody likes that guy.
Wear your awesome & shake it in their face is such a great phrase but also needs a bit of an explanation. So, I’ve decided to break apart this phrase and make it SUPER clear so no one quotes the Bible (“pride comes before the fall”) to me again.
Let’s start at the beginning:
WEAR: How does one “wear” Awesome? 
Like clothing, you have to cover yourself in it. You have to wake up every morning, put on your Awesome, and make sure it’s ready for all the dancing you’re going to do. It has to drape you head-to-toe. It affects your job, your business, your career, and those around you. When people see you, you want them to compliment you for how well you wear your Awesome.
YOUR AWESOME: What is my Awesome?
See the YOUR in the phrase? The Awesome is contingent on whatever YOU want it to be. It’s not the same for everyone. Your Awesome is the thing you’re the best at - something other people can’t really say is THEIR Awesome. It’s the best of you, the gift you have, the skills you’ve built, the thing that makes you YOU. Make sure you know what your Awesome is so you can shake it.
SHAKE IT: How do I shake my Awesome?
If you know your Awesome, you’ll know how to shake it. If your Awesome is generally a quiet, mindful Awesome, share it in quiet and subdued ways, but still share it. If your Awesome is big and loud, wear it proudly and dance like a maniac. You’ll end up letting people know how you want to play with them and attract the same types of people. But if you don’t shake it, you’re losing out to those who are.
IN THEIR FACE: Who’s face is theirs?
The people you want to buy from you, work with you, or know about you - that’s where you shake it. It could be your boss, the CEO, potential employees or partners, your clients, or referral partners. Even if you’re wearing your Awesome and shaking it, if you’re not doing it in the right places, you’ll miss the faces who can help you get where you want to go. 
Now that you know it, it’s time to put on your very best Awesome and start dancing - in whatever way that looks. If you don’t, no one else is going to do it for you. It’s up to you to manifest that shit
