What is Content Marketing?

"Content Marketing" can be a big scary phrase to hear when you're still trying to figure out how to use your blog.

  • How do you know what to do or what's best or where your customers are?
  • What is content marketing anyway?
  • Why do you have to have it?
  • Won't it take up all of your time?

Find your voice first. Then create your strategy by looking at what time you have to create content. Figure out what content you can curate. Finally, find the right audiences to share all of this created and curated content.

1. FIND YOUR VOICE:

  • How do others perceive you or your business?
  • How you want to be perceived? Use describing words.
  • Who has your voice? Personify it.
  • Do you speak as "we" or "I"?
  • Are you formal or informal? Corporate or fun? Somewhere in between?

2. CONTENT CREATION:

  • What do you know about?
  • What do your customers need to know?
  • What problems do you solve?
  • What do you love?

3. CONTENT CURATION:

  • What do you read?
  • What do you love to share?
  • What keeps you interested?
  • What would help you prove you're an expert?

4. CHOOSE YOUR PLATFORMS:

  • Who are your customers?
  • Who are the people connected to your customers?
  • What devices do you use daily?
  • Do you share insight, pictures, and/or stories?

You are in charge of your time and the content you share. Marketing is a longterm investment in time. If you don't invest much time, you can't expect much return.

Start somewhere. Commit and keep going.
