Are You Disorganized and Unfocused?

Are you a creative person with lots of ideas?  Like LOTS of ideas? So many ideas that often times you are either [insert answer here]:

a)   Paralyzed
b)   Can’t get focused
c)   Feel scattered and don’t know where to start
d)   All of the above

Maybe you are hashing out a new business idea or interest every other day, but never follow through on any of it. You feel like you are treading water and want to get somewhere, but you just don’t know how. So, instead, you check Twitter, Facebook, and maybe get lost on Pinterest for a while.

Maybe you could say you are Disorganized and Unfocused?

There are several solutions to this conundrum, but here's what I've found works best:

  1. Work backwards See the big picture and what it looks like. Write/sketch it out for yourself.
  2. Break everything into Sections Outline everything and then break it up into manageable parts.
  3. Set goals Create short, mid, and long term goals with deadlines for yourself. (Go the extra step and mark out dates in your calendar)

Think of it like running. You know you want to run 26.2 miles, but you don’t know how to start.

  1. Backwards Map out a course. Know the terrain and the area you’re running.
  2. Sections Break the course up and build up your endurance.
  3. Goals Run to the mailbox. Finish this 3 miles in under 30 minutes.

No matter the project, whether it is organizing the spare room or creating the business you’ve always wanted, keep in the mind the above steps to make things HAPPEN.

Any projects on your horizon? Go get started already!
